Day 2 and 3:
Let the adventures begin, again. We arrived to Dulles airport for the second
time, hoping for easier travel. Fortunately our initial flight to Newark was
delayed by only half an hour...a promising start. After landing in Newark
and grabbing some lunch, we met up with a team who had missed the original
flight to Dublin by only five minutes, after having flown from Wisconsin
earlier that day. Following some team bonding (we played cards for a while),
our group returned to the gate for our flight to Paris, anxious to board.
When we landed in Paris, after catching a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from
the plane window, it seemed as if we were the only four English speakers
around. One check-in worker even misunderstood our flight arrangements and
told us that we were not booked for any flights out of Paris. Nevertheless,
we ultimately ended up on the correct flight out of Paris, as originally
planned, into Ireland. Once we got to the hotel, we had lunch right away. We
were tired and sleepy after spending over 24 hours traveling, but we were
told not to sleep so we would get good nights sleep. Some of us didn't
listen. We met our roommates and sat around until it was time for practice.
The pool was really nice, Later, we had dinner and a team meeting. At our
team meeting, we got to know everyone and tried to remember their name. We
finally got to bed around 10:00pm in Dublin time which is 5:00pm back in the
states.
