Janet Hu, Chuck Katis, Nick Tremols, and Coach John Flanagan are traveling (apparently we hope!) to compete in the Irish Long Course Nationals as members of the NCSA
All-Star Team. They will maintain a blog of their adventures on this trip. The report of the almost First Day is below. Please return back to this website for new postings.
Day 1
Initially, we weren't sure our trip to Ireland would happen due to volcanic
ash from Eyjafjallajökull volcano, but luckily all flight restrictions were
lifted a few days before our departure. Yesterday we arrived at Dulles
airport in the afternoon ready to make our journey to Newark airport and
then onto Ireland. We were waiting at our terminal for our flight, that had
already been delayed, when we heard, 'Attention, the flight has been delayed
again due to weather, departure time is now scheduled for 9:00pm." With our
flight to Dublin scheduled for 9:55pm there was no way we were going to make
it. So, Coach Flanagan got on the phone and started making alternate
arrangements. We learned that we had to go home and come back to the airport
tomorrow and try again. The day was not a complete waste though, we at least
got Fuddrucker's for dinner and a good nights sleep in our own beds.
